John Depew Trio — is a musician, songwriter, and traveler with a knack for combining traditional sounds with thoughtful lyrics and intriguing musicality. He has been described as a “midwestern Nick Drake” by Ted Gioia, (musicologist.) He enjoys exploring new places in both the natural world and in the wilderness within. Combining philosophy, farming, adventure, and family, John’s songs tackle subjects that are often left behind by the mainstream. He is a Krutz Artist, Kansas State Mandolin Champion for 2022, and a member of KCAIC’s Kansas Touring Artist Roster. He'll be accompanied by Jordan Hehl and Peter Oviatt.
Claire Cartwright — is a junior undergraduate from Fort Wayne, Indiana studying Psychology and English at IU. She enjoys poetry, traveling, roller skating, and coffee. She frequently competes at the monthly Bloomington Poetry Slam and has been featured in the Hutton Honors College annual spring art gallery. She has been published in a few campus magazines, including Union Board’s annual CANVAS Creative Arts Magazine, and the Editing and Publishing Club’s annual zine “An Inkslinger’s Observance”.
Jennie Williams — plays country music and lives in Charleston, West Virginia where she works as the WV state folklorist. She's coming to Bloomington to defend her PhD and graduate -- but first! She'll play a show at the Switchyard!
Nick Romy — has been a pillar in the music community for more than twenty years in almost every facet of the scene, traveling musician, house show host, sound engineer, band leader and instrument repair pro (Ardent Instruments). They have become integral to anything music related in Bloomington. Often playing with ensembles Nick will be sharing with us a rare solo set.
